My Story

Hi, I'm Alexa! Thank you for visiting The Nifty Thimble!  

I started my business because of my love of quilting.

I started sewing many years ago. I always said that when I retired from teaching, I wanted to take a quilting class.  Well, one class turned into two which evolved into becoming a "regular" at the local quilt shop.  Not only did I discover that I had a knack for quilting, but I fell in love with it! Once I took the class to learn how to use the Handiquilter longarm machines, I was hooked. I bought my own machine, practiced, and practiced, then practiced some more.  Finally, I felt ready to open my own longarm quilting business. The Nifty Thimble was born!
